Attached (PDF) is the information regarding our first competition on Saturday, September 20 at Novi High School. We will have hard-copies of the information to distribute as well, but wanted to get everyone the times, etc. so you can make plans accordingly.  

Please note the location of the rehearsal at the MIDDLE SCHOOL as we do have a game the previous night.

All activities (rehearsal, departure, return) this day will take place at the Middle School.
Parents/Guardians, please see the CHARMS calendar to sign up to chaperone and/or help with equipment at this event.

Good Morning!

This message is in regards to the fitting process for uniforms which will take place next week on Tuesday and Thursday (August 19th & August 21st).  This does NOT apply to members of the Color Guard as you will be fit separately.
Using the link below, students should sign up for a time to get fit for a uniform.  We will begin with our returning members (Veterans) on Tuesday (12:00-5:00) and Thursday (12:00-1:30).  Our "Rookie" members need to sign up for a time on THURSDAY between 1:30pm and 5:00pm.  As we mentioned at rehearsal last evening, please make sure you are wearing the proper under garments and have your "show hair" all set (All long hair must be up above the shoulders).

Parents: We will need a group of volunteers to assist with the uniform fitting process. During Monday night's rehearsal, the uniforms need to be sorted and placed back into appropriate bags for our returning members.  Tuesday and Thursday will be the actual fitting process.  You can sign-up to volunteer any/all of the days throught the CHARMS calendar.  Click on the Yellow Hand for each of the dates to volunteer.

Several bands from the Carman-Ainsworth school district competed in State MSBOA Festival held at Owosso High School on Friday, April 25th.  All ensembles are rated on a scale from 1 to 5, with 1 being the highest rating possible.  Ensembles who earn a rating of 1 or 2 at District or State Festivals receive a certificate and are eligible to purchase plaques for display at their school and medals for each student. 

It should be noted, that at the State MSBOA Festival, ensembles are held to a "higher standard" than at District - and as you can see by the scores below - all of our kids and staff are doing magical work with all the ensembles.  Congratulations to all !!!

• The 7th Grade Band received a Division II overall rating - and scored a I in sight-reading
• The Freshmen Band received a Division I overall rating
• The Symphony Band received a Division I overall rating
  

Congratulations to ALL the CA Bands and Orchestra members for their hard work and dedication during this weekends’ District III Band Festival.  Huge thanks to ALL the volunteers, Band Boosters and staff in making this festival the success it was.  As the Symphony Band sight-reading judge put it "You have something here at Carman that is truly unique, truly special and an absolute pleasure to be a part of.
I would come out of retirement to have the pleasure of conducting a band of this talent..."
Groups receiving the highest rating of a (I) will go on to play at MSBOA State Band festival April 24th-26th 2014 at Owosso High School
